Palliative Care is a Human Right
Millions of people suffer from excruciating pain.
Despite the availability of drugs, scientific knowledge and experience,
the majority of people on earth do not have access to care related
to chronic illness symptom relief.
76% of the morphine used worldwide, is consumed in 6 countries only;
not because it is not available, but because of legislation issues.
The pictures (2008-2009) were taken in collaboration with the
Pain Relief and Palliative Care Unit at the Aretaieio Hospital,
Athens (Anaesthesiology Department).
